#4596 02.02.2024 Relaxing at home while preparing for a triple tasting next week, phew that's going to be a tough one. Not too bad a rum but I think the ABV could have been better integrated. Nose Wood, light roasted, dried fruit, floral, light caramel, faint medicinal, light chocolate. Palate Wood, roasted, fruity, light nutts, chocolate, light caramel, light medicinal. Finish Medium long, wood, herbal, light nutts, light caramel. The empty glass has some tobacco and faint coffee.

Goûté chez Sönke et surpris par la profondeur d'un rhum aussi jeune en provenance d'Équateur. J'ai eu la gentillesse de lui demander un petit échantillon. Nez : intéressant et pas si facile à décrypter. Pour moi, il évoque d'abord le papier essuie-tout, le carton et les jeunes branches encore fraîches. Légèrement sucré, avec de la pomme verte, il est plutôt du côté végétal. Camomille séchée avec de la mousse et des herbes douces. Au fond, un peu de cacao en poudre. 7,7 Palais : également différent, intense et intéressant. D'abord doux et noisé, fève tonka et noix de pécan. Puis du cacao et un peu de chocolat ou de nougat. Il y a aussi un peu de livèche, avant que la camomille, les herbes et le cœur ne prennent le relais. En fait, je trouve le géranium à la fin. Je n'ai jamais eu ça, je suis agréablement surpris. 8,1

The polish that is felt in the aroma is practically not reflected in the taste at all. The taste is relatively sweet / fruity with a slight woody note ... there is something that I can't identify. The finish is long.

Nose : very similar to Velier Long Pond 2019 STCE to me Taste : dried fruit and a bit of oak at the end but not too much for virgin cask. Conclusion: single cask, non chill filtered, natural colour, 7 yo tropical aging, 50 plus abv for 55€ that's one of the best value I've seen in a long time, please more of this !!!
