"Whisky & Rom Festival 2023 28.10.2023 Another retaste and it still performs pretty well. Price to quality is pretty good. ------------------------- This is a very nice and easy sipping rum from Mount Gay. A typical Bajan rum in nose and palate. The nose is elegant with spice, a bit of orange and charred barrel. The palate starts off with a bit of sweetness, spicy and a bit dry. There is some leather and earthyness to it as well. The finish is medium long, dry and with charred oak and ginger. Again a tiny bit of earthyness on the way out."

"This is one of the rums I have probably had the most of over time. A rum developed in 1911 and used in many mixers, which is where i learned about it in my teens way back. Not a super good sipper when you're used to the better Barbadian rums, but a very good choice in mixers. Have many memories both good and bad about this rum 🤣 Many a hangover have been traced back to this particular rum."

"Very nice on the nose. This feels very mature (in a positive way) with lots of wood, chocolate and hints of coconuts. Those notes are accompanied by lots of ripe and dried fruits and some herbs (a hint of menthol?). The fruit notes are rather intense making this the best MG nose I experienced so far. Lots of wood on the palate without being to dry or bitter. Dark choclate and some dried fruits show up to the party. Nice. This one needs quite some time to breath to fully open up but delivers a very nice MG expression."

The finish is also very mild! The alcohol is perfectly integrated!A first class Mount GayToday a second time in the glass. Somehow lost it for me, maybe form of the day. Burnt caramel predominates and the depth is missing for me."

Some atypical tastes in mouth and finish with some notes of licorice, tobacco and a nice taste of the oak barrel. It‘s an awesome everyday rum with a good price per value ratio. I see this one slightly behind the 2000 MG from S.B.S Update: Found some nice licorice and rubber notes 😜 The second sip was a lot better, more impressive. By far the best from mount gay🤤🤤 enjoyed it a lot"

Alcohol integration seems to be a constant challenge of the distillates, moreover, the flavor spectrum remains overall quite close together. Smoky notes, oak, spices - here for a change with some tropical fruit freshness. Can not inspire me, unfortunately."
