Diplomático Ambassador Selection
Highly praised for its lush sweetness, chocolatey depth and smooth, easy sipping character—seen by many as the best, most luxurious expression in the Diplomatico lineup despite its price.
A very good rum with a great nose of butterscotch, vanilla, maple, and dried dates. All of these notes appear in the taste with impact from the aging in wood. This rum does skew to the sweet side, but it is easily sipable. The finish is long with spice and dried fruit.Read more

This is the best Diplomatico there is out there. The Single Vintages is also OK but can’t really compete, but I don’t think it’s really living up to the high price, but still a must have at my Spanish shelf. Picture: My Diplomatico shelf by moment.
A rum that has been made for the uninitiated premium market, and is packaged up to suit that market. Presented very well in a nice bottle a box with cork stopper and thick glass base. On the palate is it quite one dimensional with an over arching manufactured sweetness. Chocolate, caramel, vanilla, fruits and some wood maybe? Isn't overly bad but can't be compared to a tropically aged jamaican for example. I guess it has its place in the market.
Had hoped for more... Totally overpriced, but there are also positive aspects. The nose is too one-dimensional, but in the mouth you can taste delicious berry fruits (strawberry, raspberry, raisin, plum). There is also a clear barrel note and bitter chocolate. Nice to have tried it, but never buy it!
