"one of the few typical caronis that I actually like, metallic, spicy, heavy and dirty. not as exaggerated only after rust and metal as other today's bottlings but really still nicely balanced and oily."

"You have to let it breathe for a long time, the sherry veil disappears and a very nice nose emerges. Then mega in the mouth! Very full and warm. Dry wood and dried fruit. Long woody finish. Great Jamaican. No idea why it's still available. Edit: Already a collector's item."

"A really beautiful and incredibly intense LP VRW! Just the right amount of wood, combined with candied ginger and baked banana, light tannins and tart esters, plus a nice spiciness and overall just very elegant and complex. But it's still not worth >600€, there are plenty of other VRW vintages that cost a fraction and offer a similarly delicious aroma profile!"

"28.03.2015 Whiskymessen Out for myself this time and met up with new enthusiasts and we had a great party after the event. Notes Very dark in colour. Nose Wood, roasted, nutts, fruity, dried fruit, earthy, light sitrus. Palate Balance, sweet, wood, roasted, faint citrus, light chocolate, faint coffee, orange. Finish Medium to long, wood, roasted, light caramel, orange, light coffee, light chocolate."

"Blind tasting 01.02.2024, 2nd rum of the evening Nose: But now Jamaica! Some kind of low ester, I would say. Palate: A little too sour for me, seems one-dimensional, but the alcohol is well integrated. But stick with Jamaica. An HGML? The Younger perhaps? Resolution: Wow, the latest GH, really? I would have expected more."

"Liquid Paulaner Spezi!😃Very tasty, even if I would never have guessed enmore here, let alone port mourant. Very intense sweet fruity notes almost like a spezi (cola + orange). Keyword cola cacher!"

"#4039 I have tried many of the two masters and they're usually pretty good but sweet and the price tag pretty hefty. This one is no different, sweet and fruity with nicely balanced ABV and a nice floral note in the back. Draws extremely nice curtains and the empty glass is really nice and I can get some licorice and pastries. If you're lucky you can find a bottle around 1000,- euro."

"This is a retaste and I still love it. Yesterday I got this one delivered and I just had to sample it once it was at normal temperature. The nose is typical Agricole with a lot of overripe fruits and a grassy note. There is some sugar there too. The palate is wonderful and an explosion of flavours. Again Agricole comes to mind with a lot of fruits. Slightly bitter with tobacco, smoke and oak and a hint of floral touch. The finish is medium to long, sweet with papaya and toasted oak."

"#4132 A other really well balanced blend where the Jamaica is also a solid foundation in the blend. A warm/spicy profile with fruit and freshness. There is a light leather note in there and the empty glass has some licorice to it. Price to quality is very good in my mind."

"Die 2023er Abfüllung ist mal wieder on top.. für mich kommt sie in die Nähe der Habiation Velier Abfüllung. In der Nase nicht ganz so präsent wie diese, aber am Gaumen so gut wie ebenbürtig . Direkt einen Cocktail gemixt (Mojito) und ein echtes Geschmackserlebnis gehabt. So müssen die weißen HERR sein 🤩 Edit: Im Savanna Masterclass wiederhokt getastet. Meine Bewertung bleibt"

Meilleure critique de Galli33 :
"I prefer the Pagos 2023 over the last years edition. This has more „Hampden“ power and the Sherry barrel is integrated much better (due the change of the barrels… maybe?) and the sherry stays more in the background like a faithful campanion and fit perfect with the Hampden flavours. Grilled pineapple meets sour cherries overwhelmed by esters 🤤🥃 The alcohol is very present, i would say typical for a young Hampden."

"The distillery founded in 1785, still produce their rum as it was done back in that time. The cane is crushed by a waterwheel driven mill. It’s wild fermented. They don’t use any temperature control and the double retort copper pot stills is heated with dried Bagasse. Finally it’s bottled straight from the stills. They use sugar cane juice instead of molasses, but it’s not an Agricole cause they use different methods. Overall it’s a funky rum rich on esters and congeners. It’s probably not for everyone, but I just love everything around it and I think it beats the Jamaican white Overproof’s."

""Another beautiful dinguerie! A fruity, estery, vegetal blend with a spicy, peppery background, surprising in the end, and excellent. Great mouthfeel, enjoy it dry. To sum up, my tasting notes: Nose: Sugarcane, Ester, Fruity, Olive On the palate: Ester, Vegetal, Mango, Peppery Finish: Ester"."

Meilleure critique de Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪 :
"Nice rum, but a little under compared to batch1. The presence of a slight solvent note I liked less and it is less intense. However, we are talking about finesse and personal taste. We are dealing with a rum that I would drink all the time! I do not understand all these new versions of Hampden Velier that I find little different from each other and especially pòco justified in terms of value for money. Velier lately is focusing too much on collectors with the result of making the bottles unobtainable already upon release and overpriced."

"#4133 I think they pulled off the Divergence series pretty well especially when looking at the price tag. This one is a bit less fruty but still fresh and warm. These rums deserve to be enjoyed as a sipper but I'm pretty sure they'll do really well in mixers as well."

"Lovechild from 2010 Moneymusk MBS & 2006 Foursquare! Super mild & relaxed. Lots of honey, light fresh herbs like lemon verbena and some milk chocolate, as well as kumquat jam and toasted coconut chips. Could be a little more powerful but on the whole it is very tasty and elegant!"

Meilleure critique de DomM :
"The Virgin Oak (my guess) takes off the edges quite well. A lot of coconuts and vanilla alongside the high ester profile. Combination of the TECA fruitiness and the oak notes make a pleasant combination. Quite tasty."

"On the nose, the rum is quite talkative. Everything you would expect from a Jamaican. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it can't keep this up in the mouth. I can taste a slight bitterness in the aftertaste, which I don't find pleasant. This is also the point that prevents it from getting a better rating. Unfortunately, it's not for me neat. Not bad as a mixer, but it wouldn't necessarily be my first choice."

"Edit Edit: batch #1 is better than batch #2 Edit: it's also really good as a mixer. Simply a classic. Good price/performance ratio. Works wonderfully to enhance both cocktails and long drinks. For me, it's the best entry-level Hampden and always will be. That's why I had to upgrade it again."

"Loving long ponds, I decided to purchase a white. I expected more marzipan, which I love in its aged counterpart, however it is a remarkable white. Complex, strong in the solvent part, but never overdone. Olive and esters on the nose. In the mouth solvents and a fleeting roasted/smoky note. On the finish pineapple and lychee, medium-long duration.Whites for me must have a different evaluation than amber."

Meilleure critique de Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪 :
"A rum between Spanish, French and English thanks to a hybrid distillation. Well balanced and not too intense with a pleasant caramel and never cloying thanks also to the barrel/oak aroma with a coffee, chocolate and lychee/mango finish giving it depth. Medium-long finish."
12606
Meilleure critique de TheRhumhoe :
"A blend of Guyana and Barbados bottled by the Ricci Family. The nose is rather timid, more Foursquare-oriented, with light spicy, pastry notes and a touch of solvents. On the palate, it's aggressive, quite strong and the alcohol is poorly integrated. Apart from spicy, roasted notes, caramel and a hint of chocolate, there's not much to take from it. The finish is persistent, very sketchy, wedged on spices and a few woody, sweet notes. You have to play hide-and-seek with the aromas, and it's hard to get anything positive out of it. A terribly bland and unbalanced rum, which becomes almost unpleasant."

Meilleure critique de DomM :
"Nose is reminiscent of other young PMs with wood and some continental fruits. Starts off with intense burnt notes. Some herbs with anis. A hint of chocolate appears over time. On the palate I get some acidity which I attribute to the high proof. However, the taste is surprisingly sweet with toffee and raisins which show up unexpectedly. Don’t take this wrong, this is very powerful and demanding stuff, far off from crowd pleasing sweetness of course. While this is the first AW I had in the glas I’m somewhat intrigued by the profile. Happy to explore some more bottlings. On the first go, SBS and the Nectar feel pretty similar. The latter maybe a little less sweet with more chocolate rather than toffee. Alcohol noticeable in both bottlings"

"Good agricultural rum. Compared to its Haitian brethren this rum is less intense and therefore lends itself very well to blending. Very good to taste as well, but a bit below compared to the clairins.Delicate aromas of sugarcane and olives/vegetable."

Meilleure critique de RumTaTa :
"I first notice the fresh and floral nose. Would I have blind rather assigned Port Mourant. I like it already very well. The floral does not reappear on the palate. Nevertheless, the rum remains rather like a very expressive Port Mourant. The long finish continues homogeneously. Only at the very end a few fruit esters flash up. Very good rum, atypical of Long Pond. Perfect for confusion in a blind tasting."

Meilleure critique de TheRhumhoe :
"Compared to the 54% version, this Sampan is no slouch. While the nose seems fairly versatile, with spices, fruit (notably citrus and lime), floral and vegetal notes, the palate is much more biting and warm. Despite a slight roundness, the extra degrees are felt on the palate, leaving a strong impression of spiciness on the finish. A powerful rum, slightly less balanced than its 54% predecessor."

Meilleure critique de M@xiM :
"Aroma: delicate citrus spicy gasoline aroma, lots of esters. Taste: very fruity citrus, powerful spicy, harsh, but most likely it's because of the strength, the taste hits all the receptors, but at the same time it is light fresh benzene.

Sympa."

"Had a nice tasting this past weekend with a lot of SBS. First off, price to quality is pretty good on this one. I would have loved a higher ABV because it would have given more to the flavours. "Today a relaxed easy sipper. Balanced ratio between floral Agricole notes and the oloroso sherry finish. So the finish did the Agricole good. Not sweet, rather slightly musty-sour-smoky. Sounds worse than it tastes now 😉 It's not a burner, but it's not a failure either, just ideal for a weekday evening, no need to ponder it much. I like it! Nice pick of a previously unappreciated rhum."

"Hmmm such an undrinkable mixture of gamy, grassy metallic. The nose is strongly reminiscent of Amontillado sherry. I'm actually a fan of the Couvreur whiskies - but this thing really disappointed/disturbed me, the cask just doesn't match the agricole that they put in there ..."
