"Second tasting: Uiuiui is the sharp on the palate, no wonder at almost 70%!But convinced me no longer so, since I know better Uitvlugt Rums(-2)Very interesting nose, similar to cherry liqueur and quite closed. On the palate very intense with a nice marzipan note, cocoa and barrel notes. The finish harmonizes with the impression on the palate and is not too bitter.Good intensity without being too bitter or woody. I like very much."

"Got this sample for free from RumX. It’s a single cask bottling from the legendary Caroni distillery that closed down in 2003. It’s a column still rum distilled in 1998 whereafter it’s tropical aged for 11 years in an ex-bourbon barrel and then continentally aged for an additional 12 years in an ex-whisky barrel before bottled in 2022 in just 250 bottles with a cask strength of 62,9%. Overall a very intense, complex and round rum."

"A very good interpretation of a Foursquare rum. It needs to rest for a while before you give it a go because of the ABV. Untested it'll bite a bit. Woody with spice and bourbon from nose to finish. On top of that add fruits and chocolate. Only lightly bitter on the palate but in a good way. The finish is nice and long with a peppery bite. Love it!"

"This one was a bit disappointing and I had expected more from a Caroni this age. The Caroni notes are there but very weak. The ABV on the other hand is there and very dominant. It didn't settle down until 45+ minutes and then it still wasn't all there yet. I do like the smoky touch."

"The nose is pretty typical of Foursquare. Butterscotch, coconut husk and almond. Oak following. Nothing too complicated or challenging. The palate brings the coconut to the forefront. There's also a vanilla and cashew nut combo that makes me think of coffee syrups. Rather drinkable. The finish is middle of the road in length but has a nice soft, coconut and toffee vibe to it. Overall, I've had nicer rum from Foursquare, but it's a distillery that I've never been disappointed by. This might have been improved with a touch more ABV. But there's not much to complain about. Solid offering."

"Wiederum auch hier eine solide Barbados Foursquare Abfüllung. Die typischen Noten sind auch hier wieder klar erkennbar. Was mich an diesem stört ist, dass der Alkohol nicht sonderlich gut eingebunden ist. Dieser ist eher auf der rauheren Seite."

"This was an nice rum. Wood with a light touch of smoke from nose to finish. Fruity with spices and a hint of caramel. The finish is very long and warm and it's sad they didn't make more bottles of it. Price to quality is very good."

"Got this sample for free from RumX. This rum comes from the since year 2000 closed Uitvlugt Distillery and the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still which today is moved to the Diamond Distillery, the only distillery in Guyana nowadays. It was distilled in 1997 and was first tropical aged for 2 years in an former bourbon barrel whereafter it was continentally aged for 21 years in an former cognac barrel. Finally it was bottled in 2022 in 262 bottles at 53,4%. Overall an elegant and round rum where the taste of grapefruit dominates."

"Spamming with a few older tastings that I haven't added yet. Pretty good release but I would have loved a higher ABV. Overall balance is OK but expected more from a release this old."

"This one is different from the previous one as there is more depth to it. After resting it looses most of its teeth and you have a wonderful Barbadian rum. Woody and fruity from nose to finish with vanilla and chocolate. I noticed that the caramel and chocolate really shines if you leave the empty glass for a few hours. Price to quality is very good."

Meilleure critique de Galli33 :
"Very good Rum from Foursquare. Price per value is OK. You will notice the 60%+ for sure! Nose: Classic Barbardos. Tropical fruits, vanilla, oak, marzipan, coco, banana, Honey. On the palate: Roasted, Vanilla, Marzipan. The finish is medium long with an astringend feeling with notes of oak, vanilla."

Meilleure critique de cigares :
"A rum tasted at the WLP. A vegetal, tobacco nose with a clear note of Earl Grey tea (bergamot). A palate with black tea and a compote of prunes and other fruits with a dark profile. The finish is far too bitter for a higher rating."

"Got a sample of this rum for free from RumX. It’s a 23yo pot still rum distilled in 1998 continental aged in an ex-Rum barrel whereafter it’s bottled at cask strength in just 163 bottles at 52,7%. Overall a fruity, soft and round rum. Not a typical Long Pond."

Meilleure critique de TheRhumhoe :
"A fairly straightforward Hampden low ester, with tropical fruit, vanilla, a little wood and a pinch of medicinal touches on the esters on the nose. Pastry aromas add roundness to the nostrils. A relatively simple nose, but one that lacks the depth to make a real impression. The attack on the palate is initially lively, tense and biting on the esters, before softening on exotic fruits and the sweetness of marzipan. Citrus fruits add a touch of acidity. Regrettably, apart from the palate entry, the rum remains flat on the palate, without the slightest surprise. The alcohol could be better integrated. The finish is of decent length, with more floral and medicinal aromas. The funkiness comes out more, with the barrel adding tannins. A rum that clearly needs aeration to express itself, but whose finish alone cannot create ecstasy."

"Slowly going through all the samples I received from the Colours of Rum series. This younger version of a Barbados rum os not super complex but still pretty good and at the price tag really good. Woody and fruity from nose to finish with spice and a hint of caramel. Long and warm finish."

"This is a younger Barbados rum and it comes at you from opening the bottle. It needs to rest for a while to release all of its potential. Lightly smoky and woody from nose to finish. Add some fruit and spices, a hint of spices and caramel ad you have a good rum. Price to quality is very good."

Meilleure critique de Jakob :
"It has all the characteristics of the extremely intense 2001 vintage, but thanks to the comparatively low strength, the rum is not overpowering, but rather invites you to discover the aromas. Due to the significantly lower strength, there is of course a lack of intensity here and there, but the rum does not appear really thin. Not enough for the absolute top class from 2001, but in my eyes the rum is nowhere near as clearly inferior as the current overall rating suggests - but of course the same applies here: De gustibus non est disputandum."

Meilleure critique de TheRhumhoe :
"It's clear to see what's happened here: the quality of bottled rum leaves much to be desired, and with ever-higher prices. Typical Enmore spices (aniseed, licorice, pepper), toasted oak, raisins and a touch of flowers and honey can be detected, but the nose remains very reserved, not to say insipid. The rum doesn't fare much better on the palate: the relatively low degree makes for a light, not so aromatic rum with an impression of dilution (even if it wasn't, in theory at least). Spices, wood, caramel and dried fruit make up the entire aromatic and taste spectrum, and this with low intensity. The finish is very short, with the same aromas. No sooner swallowed than forgotten, this rum will not be remembered by its bottler or distillery, except for its irrational price tag, especially when El Dorado releases an Enmore of the same vintage, under tropical aging, for half the price and twice the flavor."

"Got this sample for free from RumX. It’s a mix of column and pot still distilled rum that’s aged for 11 years, first for 5 years tropical and then 6 years continental. It has spent 5 years in an ex-bourbon barrel and 5 years in an ex-whisky barrel. Finally it was bottled in 259 bottles at 61,1%. Overall an OK rum, but with too strong alcoholic taste, that’s not near Foursquare’s own bottlings."
